Hamlets first Thought of Revenge 

In Act one, Hamlet sees his father's ghost.The ghost tells Hamlet that his uncle Claudius killed him.The dead king asks Hamlet to take revenge.Hamlet is motivated to take revenge and it seems nothing can stop him of taking revenge. Hamlet is skeptic and knows that something is wrong with Claudius because he marries the Queen only a couple weeks after the king dies.But after the ghost told him that Claudius killed his father his is full of anger and really wants to revenge his father.

"Ghost: Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder."p.57 l.31 Act.1 Sc.5

In this sentence the ghost claims the unnatural and foul murder.The words foul and unnatural describe how obnoxious his murder is. Hamlets anger rises even more when he hears how the murder killed his father.The fact how his father died motivates Hamlet to revenge his father .

"Hamlet: Haste to know´t,I, with wings as swift As meditation or thoughts of love, my sweep to my revenge ."
Hamlet says that he will take revenge and that he will not hesitate.
He decided to take revenge in the first act and everything seems ready.


In Act one we get to know Fortinbras who is the son of the dead king from Norway.Hamlets father killed Fortinbras father in a battle over land. Fortinbras wants to take revenge for his father and his land. This little side story about Fortinbras is about revenge and it effects Hamlet to.
