Cruelty and Inability to take Revenge In Act two, Hamlet only talks about his revenge. He knows that he has all rights to kill the murderer of his father, but he is not able to take revenge yet. Also, we get to know Pyrrhus, a character in a play Hamlet directs. He seeks cruel revenge against his friend. This is only a side story, but it shows a contrast between Hamlet and other people who not only seek for revenge but take revenge. |

"Why, what an ass am I! This is most brave, That I, the son of a dear father murder'd, Prompted to my revenge by heaven and hell, Must, like a whore, unpack my heart with words, This passage is about Hamlet and his revenge. The first sentence is very sarcastic because he knows that he is not brave at all.The first sentence shows his despair and that he has to be brave.Prompted means that he is ready for his revenge and it is justified by heaven and hell.He unpacks his heart with words that means that he talks about his revenge and plans its but he can´t take physical revenge.Hamlet clearly shows his frustration in the second part of the quote.
"With blood of fathers, mothers, daughters, sons,Baked and impasted with the parching streets, That lend a tyrannous and a damned light To their lord´s murder." Act.2 Sc.2 p.111 l.483-486 Hamlet talks about his revenge but he is not ready to take revenge and the story about Pyrrhus just shows another character who can take revenge.
